WADNR - Acidification Nearshore Monitoring Network

Who We Are

The Acidification Nearshore Monitoring Network (ANeMoNe) is a research project lead by Washington Department of Natural Resource's Aquatic Assets and Monitoring team. The goal of this project is to understand how changing water temperatures and ocean acidification impact life in the Puget Sound and to provide a way for Washington State citizens to engage in understanding climate change and its impact on our local ecosystems.

What We Do

ANeMoNe uses sensors to measure temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll, salinity, and water levels both inside and outside of eelgrass beds at sites across Washington State. Biological data is collected during the spring and summer growing season to explore the effects of warming and acidification on critical natural resources. Gathering this data will build long-term data sets that allow DNR and other researchers to answer questions about how climate change is impacting the nearshore areas where Washingtonians live, play, and work.
