Have a heart for helping seniors? Providing friendship, belonging and community - Meals on Wheels Kitsap provides nutritionally balanced meals to Kitsap seniors. We are currently recruiting volunteers to support current site needs and build capacity to re-open future meal sites throughout our community.
Current location needs: Bremerton Senior Center, Thursdays and Fridays.
Community Dining Volunteers work in teams of two or more to:
- Receive prepared foods from the delivery driver and maintain food temperatures until serving
- Prepare the dining room area for participants by sanitizing, setting tables, making coffee, etc.
- Greet and check in reserved diners, share information, and set future reservations
- Dish up food onto trays in approved portions and serve to participants promptly at 12:00PM
- Socialize and chat with senior diners
- Clean up the dining room and kitchen after meal service ends
Successful volunteers: understand and follow Meals on Wheels Kitsap procedures and policies; provide a welcoming environment for all of the reserved diners; respect the host site; and ensure meal service and ensure cleanup is completed by 1:00 PM.
As a program volunteer, Community Dining Volunteers are required to:
- attend the annual Volunteer Training and any other required trainings/in-service
- maintain a current copy of their Food Worker Card with the office
- provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (boosters not required at this time)
- make a minimum of a 6-month commitment.
