The Chamber is an association of more than 400 businesses and leaders, primarily from Poulsbo and the immediate neighboring areas, which promotes a strong local economy. We offer member benefits such as reduced-cost healthcare, speakers and workshops designed to educate, networking opportunities, and special events that allow individual to promote and discover one another?s businesses. We also serve as the area?s Visitors? Center, offering tourists, newcomers, and residents help in finding what they?re looking for. Most often, this is directions to the downtown waterfront, but can also be recommendations for lodging or dining or shopping. Or where to find a good bike path, or rent a kayak, or watch birds. Or to wander art galleries or museums; locate a church, an apartment, senior housing, or healthcare. The Chamber volunteers provide answers to every question imaginable (thanks in part to the internet!) and hands out brochures and maps.
What We Do
The mission of the Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce is to advocate for and promote the interests of our business community. Our vision is to: ? Be a leader in economic development. ? Maintain strong support of our existing businesses. ? Promote new avenues of business?growth through partnerships, tourism, and attracting new business. ? Work to maintain and improve the quality of life. We do this by developing programs and services which enhance economic activity, as well as serving as the visitors? center for the City of Poulsbo. It is the Visitors? Center that needs good volunteers. The Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce was established in 1954, following US Chamber guidelines, as a way for local business people to connect with one another, socially and for business advancement. More recently, the Chamber has filled the void for visitors to this popular, Norwegian waterfront village?helping families and individuals find their way around town, whether for business or pleasure. The Visitors? Center is currently open during business hours, and only in the ?front office? of the Chamber headquarters on 8th Avenue near the Albertson?s shopping center. But we plan to create a full-service Center, open at least seven days a week (seasonally)?and a host a satellite location in Historic Downtown Poulsbo, again, seasonally. We look forward to a full crew of eager volunteers?people who enjoy helping others, and boosting the image of Poulsbo.
