Needs From: Volunteer Center of Kitsap County

We are looking for individuals who can assist us with the running of the shelter. Volunteers are able to choose the amount of time they are able to contribute a week/month, as well as anything in particular they are looking to get involved in. To qualify you must be someone willing to meet our clients where they are, non judgemental or demeaning; have an open heart and a listening ear.

The volunteers are there to ensure the safety of the clients, ensuring only those with authorization are allowed into the facility. There is a little house keeping to be done but most of this is done by the clients themselves as part of their living skills training.

The afternoon/evening shift duties include:

- Read shift log

- Sort donations (if any)

- Buzz residence in/enforce showing of badge

- Answer phone

- Be available for medication (if needed)

- Enforce kitchen sign-up chart

- Make sure children are in bed by 9 pm

- Close the kitchen

- Write in shift log

- Turn shift over to next volunteer

We know your time is valuable as a volunteer so we are requesting anyone who is available for a 3-4 hour shift, which ever works best for your schedule. However many days a week is up to you as well! The afternoon/evening shift starts any time after 4:30 pm. The house closes up at 10 and the overnight volunteer takes over. 

We are looking for someone who is interested in gaining case management skills. This volunteer position is open to anyone who is looking to gain experience in this field, gather school credits, looking to build some credibility on their resume, or even a trained professional just looking to help out in their spare time. The times and days are flexible and are workable with your schedule.

The morning shift duties include:

- sign-in's 

- collaborate with afternoon/evening volunteer to discuss any information they will need to know 

- Perform wake-up call at 7:45 AM

- Unlock front door

- Check residents chores

- Read shift log

- Room checks

- Answer phone

- House laundry

- Make up intake folders, if needed

- Update shift log

- Shift turnover to next volunteer

 We know your time is valuable as a volunteer so we are requesting anyone who is available for a 3-4 hour shift, which ever works best for your schedule. However many days a week is up to you as well! The morning shift is available any time between 10 am - 1 pm. The house closes up at 10 and the overnight volunteer takes over. 

We are looking for a generous volunteer to stay at the house overnight. How ever many days is up to the volunteer. A few of the duties include:

- Maintain all of the rules and boundaries for volunteers and residents;

- Oversees the dispensing of bed linens, towels, toiletries and cosmetics to accommodate the needs of the residents;

- See that residents are completing their chores and abiding by all house rules. 

We currently have 2 overnight/live-in staff but we need people willing to rotate nights. Proper training will be applied for those who are committed to this volunteer position. Please contact us for more information.
