Who We Are

Kitsap County's only professional Animal/Equine Assisted Therapy and Animal Sanctuary.

Mission

We exist to promote the health, well-being and welfare of humans, animals, and nature through mutually beneficial relationships.

Vision

One Heart Wild Sanctuary envisions a community that inspires healing, kindness, and advocacy through empathic relationships with all life on earth.

What We Do

One Heart Wild Sanctuary offers 4 Primary Programs to our community.

1. Animal Sanctuary & Volunteer Program. All animal transfers come from a reputable animal rescue or veterinary referral for animals who would be difficult to place due to medical or behavioral challenges. The Sanctuary animals participate in Animal Assisted Therapeutic Services as they are interested.

One Heart Wild supports a vibrant volunteer team. While the majority of our volunteers work in support of the animals and their habitats, we also have volunteers helping with the many tasks needed in support of a non-profit organization.

2. Animal/Equine Assisted Therapeutic Services. Our practitioners serve children, teens, families, veterans, foster youth, people on the spectrum, LGBT youth and teens. Sessions at the Sanctuary can include; standard clinical setting, animal/equine assisted setting, nature based setting, as well as a combination, based on what is best suited for each client.

3. Outreach Programs. One Heart Wild offers support to alternative high schools, Animals & Empathy curriculum to Elementary and Junior High Schools. Secondary Trauma workshops for teachers, mental health professionals, and others working with stressed populations. The team offers speakers for Resilience, Social-Emotional Skill Building, Trauma Informed Services, Animal Assisted Therapeutic Services, etc.

4. ROOTS Institute. This certification arm of One Heart Wild offers a comprehensive, evidence based training program for mental health professionals, life/health coaches, and educators to be come qualified as an Animal/Equine Assisted Therapeutic Service Provider.
