Who We Are
We are a women's shelter with a structured 90 day program for all recipients. Clients are taught life skills in preparation for living independently after staying at the shelter, and are assigned individual case managers. Case managers meet with residents weekly to help them make forward strides in achieving their ultimate long-term goals. Our job is to also connect them to resources in the County for self-improvement, housing options and job hunting/preparation.
We get a strong support from the community, but are always in need of volunteers. At any one time, we house 22 women and maintain with only 1 paid staff personnel.
What We Do
It is the mission of Georgia's House to provide a safe shelter with life skills and a resource center to the vulnerable population within Kitsap County. Our focus is to assist homeless women, and their children, who are victims of domestic violence. We are a place where these women can feel at home and are able to build self confidence while learning the value they represent within our community.
We believe all our clients represent an important element within our community, and try to empower them to believe in themselves and see their self-worth as we see them. We are the only shelter in the state that allows young males over the age of twelve (12) to remain in shelter with their mothers, thereby maintaining the family unit as a whole.
