Peacock Family Services, a 501(c) non-profit organization, was founded in 2009 by a group of active family service professionals including pediatricians, family counselors, mid-wives, parents, and professionals who saw need on Bainbridge Island for an inclusive and supportive resource for families.
The children of North Kitsap County will reach their full potential, nurtured by families and caregivers who feel supported, informed, and connected.
Peacock Family Services’ mission is to promote the healthy social and emotional development of youth by providing nurturing and enriching care and family support.
Inclusiveness: Peacock believes that inclusiveness is essential to a diverse, engaged, and supported community of families. From our dedication to providing access through financial support for childcare, to recognizing that each child and family’s needs are unique and valued, we express our commitment to inclusiveness.
Health: Peacock believes that a healthy environment is essential for a healthy child. From our collaboration with parents in developing the whole child, to our investment in our staff’s development, to our eco-friendly facility, we demonstrate our commitment to emotional and physical health.
Community: Peacock believes in the importance of providing a supportive community for our families. From our early childhood center, to our family resources, and to our community partnerships, we are committed to being the resource hub for families in the greater Bainbridge community.
Peacock Family Services offers three broad services: Content-rich early childhood education and flexible childcare options for youth 1 to 5 years-old at its Early Childhood Development Center on Madison Avenue, unique unique outdoor and environmental education programs for youth K-3, and educational opportunities for parents, educators, and caregivers to network and share knowledge, skills, and resources that support families and communities.
Responsive care-giving, support for self-directed discovery, and flexibility are the foundations of the Early Childhood Development Center. Our unique Creative Curriculum combines concepts of RIE, Reggio, and Montessori early-childhood programs. Consistent with the current policy recommendations of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), our programs are based on current scientific knowledge of child development from birth to age five.
Nature Nuts is a unique outdoor and environmental education program for youth K-3 in partnership with the Bainbridge Island Metro Parks & Recreation District (BI Parks). Participants are encouraged to experience adventurous play, free exploration, and guided field investigations that engage youth in meaningful interactions with nature, support whole child development, and foster a connection to our community. Facilitating after school and summer day camp programs, we support life-long learning with curriculum based on the Next Generation Science Standards.
Our educational series, Partners for Early Learning, is a collaboration of community organizations dedicated to the healthy social and emotional development of children. Our workshops, panel discussions, and other educational opportunities are scheduled throughout the calendar year to bring parents, educators, and caregivers together to share knowledge, skills, and resources that will support our families and learning environments.
